What are Concussions?

Concussions are a traumatic injury to the brain caused by a sharp blow, shaking to the head or sudden stop following an event. This action can alter the brain’s normal functioning. Ordinarily the brain floats inside the skull in a protective pool of spinal fluid, but certain actions like a hard tackle or a car accident can literally slam the entire brain against the skull’s interior walls. The resulting damage can be mild to severe, depending on the intensity of the blow and the brain’s ability to realign itself afterwards. Many people recover from a mild concussion within hours, but others may exhibit symptoms for weeks and even years after the event.

Because of the fact that concussions or traumatic brain injury (TBI) signs can be subtle, some people do not realize they have had a concussion or TBI. The most common concussion symptoms are headaches, amnesia and confusion. Additionally, people may experience dizziness, ringing in the ears, nausea, vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue. Concussion symptoms with a delayed onset can include concentration problems, personality changes, light sensitivity, sleep disturbances and depression.

Most of my clients who have had a concussion feel frustrated and have a hard time finding a answer because for the most part Doctors don’t really have any answers. Most of my clients have been offered some sort of medication for the headaches, sleep or for depression. They know that is not really the answer however they don’t know what else to do, until they find Brain Awakening. Brain Awakening offers a natural, medication free solution in supporting the brain during the recovery process after a concussion called Neurofeedback. The results that my clients report are amazing. It is very exciting!!!

If you are suffering from the signs and symptoms for a concussion, neurofeedback may be the answer.

There’s an old saying in neuroscience: neurons that fire together wire together. This means that the more you run a neuro-circuit in your brain, the stronger that circuit becomes. This is why, to quote another old saying, practice makes perfect. The more you practice piano or try to speak a new language, the stronger those […] The post Why Sleep Matters – with Brainwave Optimization appeared first on Brain Awakening.
