Have you wondered why sleep is so important?

New research shows that getting a good night sleep could literally clear the mind.  It's a small Canadian study of just 26 people but the link was intriguing .  The study used MRI technology  that showed people who slept poorly had more of this black spaces filled with fluid in their brain.  People who slept well had no spaces or fluid build up.  The theory during the day our brain cells produce waste, during sleep the fluid in our brain flushes the waste out.    When we good to sleep at night the brain opens up and the fluid is able to rush through the brain,  clearing the brain, similar to how a toilet works to flush out waste.   Some doctors think that poor sleep may be at the root of some brain illnesses such as Alzheimer and Parkinson's.  It is research that is putting even more emphases on our need for  a good quality sleep.  That means 7 - 8 hours of uninterrupted shut eye and sleep issued treated quickly.  Doctors say it is critical to letting our brains cleanse as we slumber away.  CTV News Toronto.
